Pictorial Patterns Game – Math

Use the Smartboard to identify, duplicate and extend simple pictorial linear patterns. Patterns are things that are arranged by following a rule or rules. Use the Smartboard to have students interactively identify what comes next in a pattern,  to find the missing piece of a pattern and to identify the repeating part of a pattern.

Directions: Using the Smartboard click on the penguin that will continue the pattern of penguins. Next, establish where in the pattern it begins to repeat. Click in between the penguins to break the pattern. Now a new pattern of penguins will appear and it is your job to find the penguin that is in the wrong place. Next, help the penguins that lost their place in line get back to where they belong. Choose which penguin will help fill in the pattern. Lastly, help to complete patterns. Play
